Getting Your Home Ready

A little prep work goes a long way to insuring your home looks it’s best prior to being photographed. When you look around your house, ask yourself if it looks or feels cluttered. If so, it’s going to reflect that in the photos!

Please review and complete the preparations to the right before your appointment so we can capture your home at it’s best.

This preparation is a very important step in selling your home. If your home isn’t ready to be photographed upon arrival either I can photograph it as is or we can reschedule but a rescheduling fee will apply.

  • Remove items fastened to the refrigerator.
  • Remove items from all countertops and sinks
  • Tidy up bedrooms by making the beds, hanging or hiding clothes, and putting away toys or other movable items
  • Make sure all the lights in your home work and are clean from dust.
  • Clean your homes windows and open the window coverings to let in the natural light. If you have Venetian blinds, turn them to the open position.
  • Remove or hide pet food and water bowls, toys, and litter boxes
  • As much as I love pets they can slow things down during a photoshoot. So plan on keeping them outside or in a room that can be closed off during the shoot.
  • Remove your car from the driveway and don’t park in front of your house.
  • Roll and store or hide garden hoses and other outdoor tools
  • Mow the lawn, pull any weeds, and clean up leaves and branches
  • If you have a pool be sure it is nice and clean, along with the area around it. Turn on any pumps if you have a fountain or waterfall.
  • If you have a removable child fencing around your pool or yard, take it down for the photo shoot (unless you plan on leaving it after the sale of your house).
